About Jan Copeland, PT, CIE Injury Prevention Training & Ergonomic Consultant Jan Copeland is founder of the workplace safety consulting firms Backs to School and Focus on Ergonomics. She is a Physical Therapist (PT) and a Certified Industrial Ergonomist (CIE) specializing in corporate ergonomic training, workplace injury prevention, and workstation analysis and solutions. She has worked closely with both the government and private sectors, and has more than 20 years experience providing professional training programs and ergonomic workstation assessments and job task analysis. Jan graduated from Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis. In addition, she has completed several Applied Ergonomics courses with both the University of Michigan and the University of Utah. She founded Backs to School in 1984 to provide back injury prevention training programs. Focus on Ergonomics was established in 1990 to reduce cumulative trauma disorders and provide ergonomic worksite analyses.
